About us
What started with an idea to create faith-based apparel quickly turned into a lesson on patience and obedience; I wanted to know the Lord more and become more like Him...but creating apparel wasn't the answer. Learning to abide in Him, seeking Him daily and being intentional in my time with Him would require a much different approach. Changing my mindset from 'fitting' the Lord into my busy schedule – to truly abiding in Him daily meant surrendering my will and trusting His will for me as I continued seeking guidance in the Word and in prayer. But how, and what would that look like?
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” - John 16:33 NKJV
It's promises like these that, in trials and tribulation, make the difference between carrying more than I was created for or obediently surrendering to God.
The apparel idea was replaced with a strong sense of needing to slow down, simplify and re-structure my daily routine. It was tough for me to become more like Jesus if I was still living fast, reacting to life. This shift led to more intentional time in prayer, in the Word, and growing my relationship with the Lord.
The God First. Journal is a culmination of several years of praying, waiting and trusting the Lord to reveal, what He had planned for me, in His timing.
Creating a journal that included devotion prompts and Scripture promises I desired, and needed daily, was the result. God is Good! After more revisions than I can count, a journal was created and Red Lettered, LLC was formed. A Spirit-led journey and new chapter in my story! What a lesson this turned out to be. I pray God uses this journal to draw many near to Him, as He did for me!
One journal for everyday use that keeps God First. A structured set of focused reminders along with sacred and encouraging promises of God. A tool created to establish spiritual disciplines that cultivate the life and character of Christ in us.
Thank you for making the connection with us and for supporting us!

About Jeff
🤣 😎 Hahaha! From 30+ years ago when I had hair!! I'm a creative entrepreneur with a background in graphic design and business. A Gen-X'er that has lived a fast life keeping up with an evolving world, full of peaks and valleys, a world that was ready to chew me up – and spit me out. In 2017 I came to know the Lord and, over the next several years, He walked me through a transformation only He can bring! 🙌

About Jo Anna
While I had been a faithful person throughout my life, my personal relationship with the Lord became deeply nurtured in 2017. After well over a decade 'in the desert' with a legalist focus, my faith shifted in His Grace and my prayers were specific and intentional. I learned to rely entirely on the Lord for provisions of all kinds and in ways only the One could! An advocate for the underdog, I continue to be an encourager of others in His Hope but with a much more personal understanding.

Why We Are Here
Our story that led to the creation of this journal is pretty special. The story is still being written, as the Lord continues doing a work in us that only He can do! Sharing this story is what's behind our mission and purpose. But God.
We believe that God doesn't want to fit into a limited time slot and that our relationship with Him isn't defined by simply reading a morning devotion in our inbox. Instead, we believe in living in constant communication with God – and in doing so, setting boundaries and creating a lifestyle, or rhythm that intentionally facilitates a process of spiritual discipline.
What is the meaning of spiritual discipline?
A spiritual discipline is a regularly repeated practice that can enrich our attentiveness to the Holy Spirit, cultivate the life and character of Jesus Christ in us, and strengthen our love for God and others.
These are simple habits and practices that bear fruit and help us to develop, grow, and strengthen our faith in Christ. They include such things as praise and worship, prayer, Scripture study, meditation, solitude, serving others, etc. Simply put, spiritual disciplines help us grow in our walk with God to be prepared and ready for the transformation only God can bring.
Here's what the Apostle Paul says:
"But reject profane and old wives' fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come." - 1 Timothy 4:7-8 NKJV
As we exercise ourselves toward godliness, we become more like Jesus.
